They purchased a beautiful 200-year old historic home in the quaint and quiet hills with intentions to make this their dream home. Aside from repairing the necessities, this home is undergoing a light renovation and Full Service Furnishings to make their #ModernCottage dreams come true.

THE HISTORY
Nestled in the heart of Greenfield Hill, Fairfield, CT lies a home with a story as captivating as its architecture. Originally built in 1836 by Bronson, this stone structure began its life as a humble plaster mill, later evolving into a bustling blacksmith shop. Nearly a century later, in the 1930s, the mill found new purpose, transformed into a residence that seamlessly blended Old World charm with modern living.
Architectural treasures from a French Monastery were brought in to enhance its character, including intricately carved cherry doors, and wide-plank walnut floors. Pair this with the riverbrook, waterfall, and pied-à-terre, this home is a storybook come alive.
The estate’s unique allure caught the attention of Architectural Digest, where it was featured in 1990 for its distinctive blend of historical authenticity and timeless elegance. The dramatic living room, with its cathedral ceiling of redwood beams, wide-plank walnut floors, and antique fireplace, offers a glimpse into its storied past while serving as a warm and inviting space.
THE BRIEF
In this Interior Design project, House of Savoy is focused on maintaining the architecture of an incredible living room with vaulted ceilings and abundant in beams by offering our signature Full Service Furnishings. With an emphasis on the Modern Cottage vibe, and inspiration from Vivir, these clients dream of rich green upholstery, a calming atmosphere to relax after a long day of work, and a cozy family space for movie nights and family gatherings.
