9 Years of House of Savoy: A Look Back at Our Years in the Making

House of Savoy Anniversary

I blinked… and somehow, House of Savoy is nine years old.

When I first started this business, I couldn’t have imagined where it would take me, the lessons I would learn, or the clients I would have the honor of serving. Each year has carried its own challenges and its own milestones, and together they tell the story of how this little studio grew into what it is today.

Here’s a look back at the journey, year by year:

2016 – The Beginning

This was the year everything started. Early in the year, I welcomed my twin daughters. Soon after, we bought a fixer-upper in a great neighborhood and I managed a full renovation, which became both my proof of concept and the first “project” for what would become my studio. I built an in-home office and spent the rest of the year developing the business plan and getting the paperwork in place.

2017 – First Clients & First Lessons

My first full year in business. Nearly all of my leads came through Thumbtack, and I learned quickly about pricing, sourcing, and managing projects. I invested in countless education courses and immersed myself in the industry. Those first clients taught me as much as any classroom could.

2018 – Building a Portfolio

The projects started flowing, and my first online feature was published. Companies began to take notice, and I slowly started building the portfolio that would become the backbone of my studio.

2019 – First Publication

This was the year of my first print publication—a milestone that felt like a major turning point. More projects meant more opportunities to refine my style and process, and the foundation of my business started to feel steady.

2020 – Highs & Lows

A whirlwind year. I was named HGTV Designer of the Year, launched a side business to help other interior designers grow, and was featured in multiple national publications. Then came the COVID lockdowns. Even through the uncertainty, I was consistently booked and, at times, overloaded with projects.

2021 – Recognition

Another milestone: being featured in Architectural Digest. Behind the scenes, I continued running multiple projects at once and building a more recognizable, consistent portfolio of work.

2022 – My Best Financial Year Yet

After years of growth, this was the best financial year I’d ever had. The pipeline was steady, the portfolio was strong, and I could see the years of work starting to pay off in tangible ways.

2023 – A Hard Reset

This was one of the hardest years of my life. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and my business took a post-COVID plummet. I wasn’t able to take on much work and spent most of the year in hospitals, undergoing testing, and focusing on recovery. But in the middle of it all, I created a course that has since become an integral resource for interior designers—a silver lining in a very difficult season.

2024 – Refocusing

I made a pivotal decision to stay a small, boutique studio and outsource everything that wasn’t design. I also rebranded and renamed the business House of Savoy, honoring my Italian heritage and the values I wanted to carry forward.

2025 – Alignment

This year has been about clarity. I closed down the Collaboratory to devote myself fully to House of Savoy, leaned deeper into my signature design style, began turning down unaligned projects, and prioritized a healthier work–life balance. I also started showing up consistently on Instagram to connect in a more intentional way.

Looking Ahead

Nine years of business have taught me resilience, creativity, and the power of alignment. I’ve learned that design isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces—it’s about creating homes that feel lived in, personal, and deeply intentional.

To every client, collaborator, and supporter who has been part of this journey—thank you. You’ve made the last nine years possible. We have some incredible things in store at House of Savoy for 2026 so stay tuned!
