Questions to Expect in Your Interior Design Consultation
If you’re preparing for your first interior design consultation, you may be wondering what to expect. At House of Savoy, we want this process to feel effortless and intentional—so you feel both cared for and understood from the very beginning.
Why the Consultation Matters
The consultation is a cornerstone of our process because it ensures we begin with clarity and direction. The questionnaire you complete beforehand sets the foundation for the design moving forward—it’s not a document that gets filed away, but one we revisit throughout the project to make sure our vision remains aligned with yours. It allows us to reference your priorities, preferences, and lifestyle needs at every stage, ensuring consistency and integrity from concept to completion.
Before Your Consultation
Prior to meeting in your home, we’ll have you complete an in-depth questionnaire. This gives us insight into your project details, lifestyle, and design preferences. By the time we’re ready to meet for your interior design consultation, we’re already armed with an understanding of your style direction, so we can provide tailored recommendations and specific examples rather than asking broad or generic questions.
Our questionnaire isn’t just about square footage or room count—it’s designed to uncover how you live in your home and what you value most. Here are some things we want to know:
These kinds of questions help us go beyond surface-level preferences to create interiors that are not only beautiful, but meaningful and livable.
During Your Consultation
Your consultation with House of Savoy is 90-minutes long and is structured into three distinct parts:
-
Introductions
We begin with a warm introduction. We love when partners participate from the very beginning and are so excited to meet the family we’ll be working with, furbabies too! -
Home Walkthrough
Together, we’ll move through your space room by room. This is where you share your ideas, inspirations, and frustrations and where we’ll offer our initial observations and suggestions. We’ll take some notes to begin developing your preliminary scope of work. These are the specific things you wish to tackle during this phase of the project. -
Process & Partnership
Finally, we’ll sit down to discuss what it’s like to work with us in depth: our process, our team, and our pricing structure. This ensures full transparency and gives you a clear picture of what to expect moving forward. We’ll answer all your burning questions as well.
We conclude by scheduling a date and time to review the custom proposal we’ll prepare for your project.
Final Thoughts
The consultation is more than just a first step—it’s the foundation for everything that follows. With thoughtful preparation before, a structured process during, and clarity about next steps after, you’ll leave with a strong sense of confidence and excitement about the journey ahead. At House of Savoy, our goal is always to make the design experience as elevated and effortless as the finished result.
